Visit the Park City Museum
The Park City Museum is home to exhibits that chart Park City's enthralling history from mining town to how it evolved over time into a popular resort destination for all seasons. The museum is situated in a historic building that was once both the town's City Hall and Utah's Territorial Jail – which you can still visit in the basement.
Try a Walking Tour of Historic Main Street
Sixty-four of the buildings in Park City – many located along its charming Main Street – are included on the National Register of Historic Places. Starting from Park City Museum, you can take a guided walking tours at 2:00 pm, Monday through Friday, from June 18th through August 31. Explore the town as you learn about its impressive history, architecture, and landmarks.
Take a Free Ski Mining Tour
Experience a free historic mining tour, Silver To Slopes, departing from the Park City Mountain Village daily at 10:00 am and at 1:00pm near the top of Bonanza Express chairlift. This guided, intermediate-level ski tour explores Park City Mountain with an expert guide to explore historic mining buildings and hidden relics strewn across the resort. Learn our local history and find out how this city has grown from a silver mining camp to an international winter sports destination.
Hike Your Way Through History
Spend three to four hours hiking your way over the moderately strenuous and absolutely gorgeous landscape while learning all about the area’s storied mining history. Hikes leave near the base of the Sterling Express chairlift at Silver Lake Lodge at 8:30 am on June 23, July 21, August 18, September 22, and October 20. Reservations are required, so make sure to sign up in advance!
Pair Mines with Wines
What could be better than pairing your history with delicious wine? This three-hour tour presents six historic Park City locations, each enjoyed while sipping a specially chosen vintage. Start with a glass of sparkling wine at the Daly West Mine ruin, then hop on a luxury minibus to explore five more historic sites accompanied by five more wines, including the Miner’s Hospital and Park City’s former Red-Light District along Deer Valley Drive. Snacks are provided between stops during the ride in the minibus. Cheers!
