Spring Hiking in Park City

While it may take a few months before the snow has entirely melted from several higher elevation trails, there are plenty of lower elevation routes and trail networks that are prime for spring hiking.

Glenwild

The Glenwild trail network offers about 25 miles worth of trails accessible to both hikers and bikers. Located north of Kimball Junction, this area is known for fantastic views and relatively dry during the spring season. There are several different trailheads along Rasmussen Road and plenty of post-hike activities near Kimball Junction.

Round Valley

With its nearly 700 acres, Round Valley is a trail runner’s paradise. Located northwest of Historic Main Street, Round Valley is highly accessible, and its lower elevation makes it ideal for spring activity. These trails are also dog-friendly and a trendy place for exercising the four-legged friends. Routes can be accessed via Round Valley Way Trailhead, North Round Valley Trailhead, and Quinns Trailhead.

Lost Prospector

This trail is a true local’s favorite and a great way to get your hiking legs under you during the spring months. This trail on its own is an out-and-back hike that offers excellent views of the town and resort views. Several other paths intersect Lost Prospector if you wish to make this hike a loop rather than an out-and-back. This trail is accessible via Rail Trail parking lot, Aerie Drive, or Prospector Park.

Keep in mind that spring weather can often be unpredictable, especially in the mountains. Be sure to dress appropriately, pack sunscreen and appropriate footwear. Also, it is essential to be respectful of fellow and future trail users and practice proper trail etiquette. Park City is a spectacular place to visit year-round and easy access to these trails is a small part of what makes it so unique. Please reach out to our concierge team directly at info@the-chateaux.com to inquire about any spring activity before your visit.
